Timber or Composite? Choosing Decking Materials
Neither is the wrong answer, it comes down to budget, how much upkeep you want to do, and the look you're after. We can talk you through both when we quote the job.
Timber
The traditional choice, and still the most common, it looks the part and can be repaired or replaced board by board if needed.
Composite
Costs more upfront but needs less ongoing maintenance, no re-oiling or re-staining required.
Do You Need Consent for a Deck or Pergola?
Whether a deck or pergola needs consent from Auckland Council generally comes down to how high it sits above the ground, lower decks are more likely to be exempt, higher ones are more likely to need it. We'll check this against your specific site and design before anything's quoted, and handle the consent application if your project needs one.
